
As a Principal of PRESIDIO Exchange Advisors, Mr. Cortese consults with clients and their professional advisors on securitized real estate investment strategies, specializing in 1031 tax deferred exchanges and Tenant-in-Common investment opportunities. He is a regular speaker at real estate investment workshops and has sat on Tenant-in-Common panels for the Bay Area Mortgage Association, Real Share San Francisco, and the Tenant-in-Common Association (TICA). Mr. Cortese is an OMNI Elite Advisor and assists in the evaluation of new property offerings, market trends, and relevant legislative updates.
Mr. Cortese has 22 years of experience in institutional real estate management, leasing, sales and acquisitions. Prior to his current role as a Principal of PRESIDIO Exchange Advisors, he served as a Real Estate Asset Manager working with institutional owners of real estate such as Morgan Stanley, TIAA-CREF, Met Life, GE Capital, Fidelity, and CAL-PERS. As an advisor to private investors, Mr. Cortese works closely with clients and their professionals (CPAs, Realtors, and Attorneys) to accommodate their time sensitive 1031 replacement property requirements.
Prior to his current position, Mr. Cortese was a Senior Vice President with Jones Lang LaSalle, one of the largest real estate service companies in the world. At Jones Lang LaSalle he received the honor of an invitation into the Jones Lang LaSalle Club (a prestigious award reserved for top performance with the firm), and led a team that won recognition as the nations best marketing division in 2001. Additionally, he has served as Asset Manager on portfolios of office buildings, shopping centers, and industrial properties for regional and national real estate firms such as Prentiss Properties, The Royce Asset Management Group (wholly owned by Great Western Bank), CB Richard Ellis and PM Realty Group.
Mr. Cortese is an active California Real Estate Licensee since 1987, holds a Series 7 & 63 securities registration, and is a registered representative of OMNI Brokerage, Inc., (Member FINRA and SIPC). He is also a member of the Tenant-in-Common Association (TICA). Mr. Cortese graduated from San Diego State University with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration in 1986.
Mr. Cortese and his wife Brooke have three children, twin boys Max and Luke, and daughter Natalia. He is an avid skier, golfer, martial artist, and musician, having founded San Francisco's only Real Estate Band made up entirely of members of the Building Owners and Managers Association.
